Smart, capable, intellectual, scholarly and unstoppably destined for greatness. Is that how your students see themselves? Factors such as abuse, bullying, bias, systemic racism, socioeconomic status, trauma, and/or violence exposure can affect how people see themselves and result in emotional and academic consequences for students. This session provides strategies to use in the classroom that help students build agency and adaptive self-concepts that cultivate positive identity development; therefore, an enhanced capacity to believe in their potential and advocate for their needs. Help your students build the resiliency to accept their differences and journeys without personal comparison and thus construct their own positive identities and dreams into ones of unlimited possibility and promise.
